Years of experience in interior finishing gave Pieter Peeters Weem, at th end of the eighties, the idea of developing a floating door with magnetic guiding. Industrial supply of inner floating doors was non-existent and the existing systems with wheels and rails were not completely satisfactory. When the first magnetic guided prototype appeared to work perfectly, Pieter Peeters Weem saw the chance of fulfilling his longnurtured ambition.
After a year of market research and preparation he ended his career as deputy director of a company in Rotterdam on 1 May 1989 and started Mondoor from his own home. During the day he visited customers or he worked at his computer or on the telephone. In the evenings and at weekends all the other work was done, including the production.
The first years were not easy. Not only was magnetic guiding new to the market, but Mondoor also introduced a sliding door frame into which the open door could disappear.
Mondoor grew out of the pioneer phase long ago and the products have amply proved themselves. Thanks to a motived and professional team the company has grown into a good (perhaps even the best) professional and innovative market party with an extensive assortment of floating door systems.
